Providence Place Geriatric Assessment & Rehabilitation Unit

Providence Place This is an innovative and holistic health service with the goal of helping elderly and at-risk clients to avoid reliance on acute care, and to avoid premature admission to a long-term care facility.

We offer a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, short-term medical and treatment program that results in more than 70% of our clients being able to return to their own homes following an average 30-day stay on the unit. A physician referral is required to access the program.

An interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, pharmacist, dietitian, medical social worker, recreation therapists and pastoral care provider, work with clients to help each one achieve his or her maximum level of health, mobility, independence and personal control over his/her own life.

The GARU services are available to Saskatchewan residents who:
  1. have experienced significant health challenges or decline in ability to function and/or mobilize, and desire to participate in therapy to enable them to continue living at home in the community, and
  2. have a demonstrated rehabilitation potential.
